A typical opening sequence involves casting Moa Stance and Quickening Zephyr, followed by Worldly Impact and “Strength of the Pack!” Do this regardless of which weapon you’re holding; even if you may not hit anything with Worldly Impact while wielding a Longbow, the boons you receive are well worth the cast. Do this even if you’re not actively fighting mobs, so that you’re always prepared to face the next mob. Dragonhunter is a meta build only if it replaces Firebrand and being the main source of by taking, which is used only in short encounters in higher end groups. With Greatsword, get in melee range, cast Mirror Blade, then Mind Stab simultaneously with Mind Wrack and Mantra of Pain. Sigil of Severance is absurd! Water 3 heals you and allies + regen, though the heal is slightly delayed. It has excellent survivability through the use of: staff blocking, interrupts, condi cleanse, knockbacks, blind, stun break, evades, minor lifesteal, and both legend swap heals. Spellbreaker is new and cool, but it’s like a wet noodle in the open world compared to its big, brooding older brother Berserker. The skills in these mixes work well to help you land the heavy hitters. Warrior experienced nerfs primarily to the Strength trait line, so this build was unaffected. It has great burst options and deals high consistent damage while providing medium defiance bar damage and. The armor is sinister, since in shorter fights sinister is better, while in longer ones with Master of Misdirection giving you 33%, you will cap out confusion duration with just 3 boons on you. Similar to the build above but focusing on getting clones as fast as possible and shattering every time you have 3 available. Event Builds can often function alone, but always do better with allies to support them. And things die relatively quickly. Pyroclastic Blast, Fire/Earth dual skill. I rotate between the F2 and F1 shatters, but of course you can use F3 for CC when needed. Best Class for Solo PVE Play Ranger. Pretty great for killing masses of mobs. Assassin’s gear is technically better for open world content if you’ve got it, but not worth the trouble if you don’t. You have to adjust the way you play, because you lack the second health bar, but you gain significant damage and the best condition cleansing in the game. Though Conjure Fiery Greatsword is strictly better DPS, it would be the only skill that requires short range, so I’ve dropped it in favor of Glyph of Elementals, which is more flexible. Though with that Invocation-setup in the open world, extra procs for Fury work extremely well, even though, of course, Glint was easier, I still stack to 25 might immediately between the fury procs and F2. Then have I got a build for you! You start with double Axe 2 and Torch 4, get a third clone with Jaunt and from there start spamming ambushes by rotating between your dodges, Crystal Sands and False Oasis, using Axe 2 of cooldown, Axe 3 to change targets (or for extra DPS) and Torch 4. I’ve chosen Axe over mainhand Dagger because Axe does more damage, and has a more impactful grandmaster trait in Discipline. Also, Carrion is a good cheaper/tankier alternative to Sinister. Power Dragonhunter is a naturally bursty power class. Now they are forcing the Daredevil to compete in … Your first utility stunbreaks and evades (and is also a beautiful twirl!). It’s not much of a heal but when you gain might on interrupt via the Ruthlessness Sigil, on crit with the auto-chain on dagger, every time you fist-yell, every time you weapon swap, passively when you use your burst on things because of some kind of swole chain thing, every time you eviscerate, when people hit you, because you ate fried food and maybe sometimes just because… it adds up. Staff and Hammer. Both are enormously more useful than that Dagger burst. The build works with Berserker gear, but will obviously get lots of mileage out of more crits due to the dagger skills (big ass crits on boonless foes and a passive heal for outgoing critical damage) so I opted for Assassins for better crit chance. A new variation on a very old build, this one picks up some awesome synergies with Soulbeast, and is able to easily maintain permanent Fury and high Quickness uptime. Fight in shroud as much as possible, use axe 2, wh 5, GS 3, and heal to build lifeforce quickly, 2x utility to add what you need: stun break or shadow beast for more LF. or Signet of Courageprovide even more support. “Strength of the Pack!” gives you Might each time you strike something. It’s very similar to the power Rev build used in PVP. Gear can be Viper’s or Sinister, and runes you could go 2xLyssa and 4xTempest, giving you 20% condition duration and putting you close to 80% condition duration overall, without any food buffs. A basic Greatsword/Longbow build for any PvE Dungeon/Fractal. In the Scourge line, I put all the top line, which makes it easy to have the one large Shade support all the minions. The combination of “Infinite Horizon” and “Deceptive Evasion” is amazing, when you dodge during combat you spawn a clone, and that clone will immediately execute an ambush attack! Utility skills are up to you, though I strongly suggest the signets. For higher Fractals you can use thisbuild. The only thing this build is really weak to is condition pressure, which isn’t that common in the open world. This build can take Dagger for better sustained DPS or Sword for slightly better burst DPS. Use Primordial Stance (second utility R on my build) while single or double attuned to fire for more damage. In addition it brings very high defensive support for a DPS class, with a party wide block in Shield of Courage, a strong burst heal in Wings of Resolve, and the ability to bring Guardian utilities such as Wall of Reflection and Hallowed Ground. At this point I will only recommend key skills to focus on for general play: This build is best suited for lower pressure environments that allow you to freely DPS, but can be played anywhere with sufficient experience. Try to cast Laser Disk, Blade Burst, Hard Light Arena, and Prime Light Beam while in Photon Forge above 50 Heat, but as early as possible, so that all their pulses occur during Photon Forge. Strength: Forceful Greatsword is a lock, and is maybe the strongest trait in GW2. I’ve never had 7 different conditions on me at any time in open world, so it’s safe to call this a full reset button, because it also restores a whopping 60% of the warrior’s health. Unfortunately, ele lacks good low cooldown utilities. I considered runes of perplexity, but while in long fights confusion makes up to 50% of your damage, in shorter ones torment takes over, so I stuck with zerker runes. Gives me occasional 7k auto attacks without much might, and over 85% critical chance. You can also use Epidemic and THEN Shroud 4, so all targets afflicted by epidemic (1200 range) will also be inflicted with fear, and thus an additional 6k damage and in unlikely situations, be able to fear up to 17 targets at once; epidemic (5) + self (3) + 3 shades (9), Soulbeast [Longbow][Greatsword] (Gayest_Charr_Ever). In hindsight I probably should have used it on the [Eater of Souls] story fight, but outside of such niche fights boon strip is so much hot air. They both can have very different builds depending on what game mode you run, whether it’s open world, fractals, raids, PvP, or WvW. This build is highly self-sufficient, with great Fury and Might uptime, 100% crit chance, and both passive and active defense available in and out of rotation. The Staff Ambush skill gives 3 might to allies that are ‘hit’ by the orb, including yourself. I opted for the Nightmare + Trapper’s combo, but feel free to experiment for yourself. — Dragonhunter release notes. Although I’m sure this is not top DPS by far, it’s a very easy build to play, you basically are un-killable, constantly healing, you rarely have any conditions on you, and you buff your minions so they don’t die. You build up Life Force from kills and abilities, like core Necromancer and Reaper, but you spend it on Shade skills instead of using it as an alternate health bar. Get in Photon Forge and stay in Photon Forge as long as you can, up to 130-149 Heat. Outrage is hilariously strong for keeping on your feet but unnecessary due to Headbutt, swap to preference. I also have one strength trait lets me throw weakness on enemies I hit with CC which then augments my defense trait that makes me do 7% increased damage against weakened enemies. for fun you can LB 4 around other players. Dragonhunter [Scepter/Focus][Greatsword] (Gayest_Charr_Ever). Was also really fun! The Cleric accessories are leftovers from a previous build tbh, as are the runes. Easy to play with great cleave and damage, this build represents the faceroll easymode aspect of the Warrior class in open world. Daredevil [Pistol/Pistol][Staff] (hiberbeam). I usually start in Fire/Earth, then go Air->Earth->Fire->repeat. This build has good cleave since staff autos bounce between enemies, ambush skill passes through them, and your shatters hit in an AoE. I put Runes of the Lich as a placeholder, because more Vitality and condition duration is good in my books. Guardian. Guardian is our favorite class. Scourge [Staff][Dagger/Warhorn] (The_Pumpking). Power Soulbeast can support the Druid by bringing a Spirit to free up a utility slot. Berserker. Event builds are builds that focus on AoE damage, sustain, and support. They are best used to farm large events with a group. Enter Photon Forge once you cool to 50 Heat. Power Holosmith. Like the Deadeye, you only need one Torch/Sigil of Smoldering. Low CD heal and stun break. 3rd: At least 350 healing power. This build hasn’t changed much in quite a long time, and I pass it forward yet again. Berserker’s Power is still king in the Grandmaster slot. Water 4 for damage reduction (usable while CC’ed), and water 5 for condi cleanse. Operation is simple: mark a target for lots of boons, use the stolen skill, Pistol Whip/Unload, rinse & repeat. To summarize the playstyle simply: set up your Sand Shades, and cast Desert Shroud. Might Makes Right synergizes well with Forceful Greatsword, but also with Magebane Tether. Use axe for ranged and GS for fun. This is a Staff condi mirage build, utilizing the Staff ambush skill as much as possible. Gives perma fury, swiftness, 25x might, low CD strong heal, low CD stun break, almost always 100% crit chance. This is a melee focused power Rev build I use in the open world. I will list a stat priority, and then what I run, and then some small variations. Power Soulbeast is bursty power build that also carries a fair amount of CC. This build features an incredible amount of defensive utility for your squad through consistent application of Aegis and frequent use of Shield of Courage. By taking Deceptive Evasion from the Dueling trait line and a Sigil of Energy the basic idea of this build is to open with two Axe 2, followed by a dodge (spawning a clone), followed by Axe 3, another dodge (so it procs Infinite Horizon) and closed with a shatter and Crystal Sands. I put Quickening Thirst to go a bit faster when using dagger/warhorn, and Unholy Martyr so that I get LF when I take conditions from allies, which then get sent to the enemy through Minions. Spellbreaker [Axe/Dagger][Dagger/Axe] (Boelthor). // Raids / End Game The first one is my favorite one. ... No these builds are for open world. Use LB 2 + 5 to engage, then weapon swap on CD, use LB 2 and warhorn 4 2x each; use heal after wep swap to double quickness. Parasitic Contagion should be enough to keep you alive. It also provides excellent burst damage through the use of precision strike → drop elemental blast → burst of strength → equilibrium legend swap (also triggers hydro sigil damage) → impossible odds → sword auto attack → precision strike → repeat.Playing this build effectively relies heavily on you knowing your skills and traits completely inside and out. Combined with Sun and Moon Style, this makes Axe/Dagger provide plenty of health sustain. Scourge [Dagger/Warhorn][Axe/Focus] (Gayest_Charr_Ever). It turns out that Sword is a pretty weak weapon in a power build. The build works around longbow's relatively long range and fast, bouncing projectiles. Was reeeeeeeally fun in open world, putting 20-ish burns on all mobs with Incendiary Ammo and Photon blitz was absolutely gorgeous, even if they only last for 2 seconds. Holosmith [Sword/Shield] (Gayest_Charr_Ever). Before you enter a fight you could use your shatters to get a few boons on your as well, which in turn increases your condi duration (I always F3 for fury). Change Dragonhunter from 1-2-3 to 1-1-3. Has great synergy with Rapid Fire and Barrage on crowds of mobs. I typically try to use Meteor Shower shortly after dual attuning Fire to benefit from Elements of Rage. You can try Might Makes Right but in practice I feel it’s a bad fit: healing too weak, endurance only generates when you’re attacking, which is not when you (generally) need it. As soon as your staff 2 comes off CD you can shatter your old clones and spawn new ones with the same combo, staff 2 > jaunt > dodge and repeat. Being ranged you basically trivialize almost any encounter. Here I’ve chosen Hallowed Ground for its Retaliation uptime contribution, as well as providing a safe haven to unload a full burst combo without being interrupted by CC. Stand in water 3 circle for lots of healing, then combo out of it when the field is about to expire. Pretty nice burst for condi, a lot of cleave, with the tiny pink axes from your clones flying everywhere, and its sustain isn’t as bad as I thought. Against champions or bosses you generally just want to break their bars as soon as they are up so you can get more damage in, as well as get a few seconds in for your cooldowns to come back. Plus, having one large Shade means that it makes it really easy to have the full benefits of the minor traits Blood as Sand and Sand Sage. Plenty of CC and passive healing to remain in the middle of a brawl if you like. It carries significant health sustain and a giant reset button, as well as great personal damage, in-combat mobility, condition cleansing, and CC. Tried it on TD, got 16k-17k, which in open world with random/non-existent boons is pretty high. Great damage great support great sustain. Accessories are any combination of toughness, vitality, condi damage and healing power. Spectral Wall, if positioned correctly, can force mobs into corners, making them repeatedly fear themselves for the duration. The dragonhunter specialization will look to viciously purge the lands of dragons and their ilk, with longbow and traps now at hand. It is excellent at roaming with its high area burst damage and innate survivability while also being the best specialization option for tagging on guardian due to its access to longbow. I suppose you could change Sand Savant for Demonic Lore if you want more DPS, but it makes it more complicated since you have to manage three shades instead of one. So the point of this build is to stand inside your clone’s line of fire to gain that might for yourself when they fire off the ambush skill. However, Staff got several strong dual skills, and is free of melee overloads, which makes it a little nicer to play in open world. Return to Fire frequently to cast this. Worth noting, Scourge condition duration is much shorter than Reaper, so don’t get greedy and try to stack too many. When using Photon Forge skills, prioritize Corona Burst, then Photon Blitz, followed by autoattacks. It also procs on weapon swap sigils without having to actually swap weapons.With this build, I have successfully solo’ed a few dungeons, fractals, and open world champions without any help. Ranger is one of the most popular classes in Guild Wars 2, and it’s easy to see why. But the Sword part of its damage potential has gotten a few buffs recently, and it has moved from satisfactory to excellent in performance. Magebane Tether ties you to a target you hit with any Burst skill, and pulses 3 Might per second for 8 seconds. It will require a fast playstyle. Perma fury and nearly ~90% crit chance, change food to fried dumplings for 25x might. I run 900. Firebrand [Axe/Torch][Scepter/Torch] (trondonopoles). I tried to like Dagger/Dagger, I really did, it’s just so slow at plowing through groups of enemies, has no sustain outside of the weak-feeling Master perk, and only has the ability to control a single mob at a time. Kalla isn’t worth giving up the awesome of Vengeful Hammers or Unyielding Anguish. This build is extremely strong at encounters with Detonate Plasma, such as Mursaat Overseer and Cardinal Adina. Water 2 is extremely strong – when you need to retreat, use it and sit in the water field for several seconds, either blasting it or just waiting/doing other stuff. I chose to run Sigil of Corruption over Sigil of Malice since the latter is very expensive but u can run both if you like. But when your autos are critting for 4k at 1200 range in an AoE, who needs defense? In practice, Deadeye’s Rifle is one of the strongest ranged weapons in the game in sustained DPS, and offers unique combat strategies that were previously unexplored. Mirage [Axe/Torch][Axe/Pistol] (Andulias). you can also camp LB for open world bosses and go afk. You can use any condi set as far as I know, but I had my dungeon armor on so eh, why not? Meta Builds. I was surprised to see controversy surrounding Deadeye’s Rifle; I assume this is because people who are trying it out are accustomed to melee weapons, and notice a DPS loss when switching to Rifle. You only need two pistols for this build, not three. Deadeye [Pistol/Pistol][Sword/Pistol] (h4mburgers). Summary: Lots of might while in fire, good condi damage and not-insignificant power damage, ability to withdraw from a fight at will and either heal and then re-engage or run away. Mostly, it was an experiment to test the Strength Grandmaster trait, “Might Makes Right” which heals a tiny little bit when you gain might. Boss rotations are still being developed, and you will be able to use a raid rotation when it is released. To get the most out of your damage, you want to always be swapping between assassin stance and dragon stance. It also allows me to swap to the Mirage raid build easily (with my leggy armor all I have to do is change the armor to viper’s). I like the final Renegade pick for being able to continuously keep 10 might ready out of combat since the stacks never drop. Use a staff for far support, and dagger/warhorn for the LF generation, you basically don’t run out of LF. i left the secondary weapon set empty since i basically stay in staff all the time. Renegade. That means I can jump into a group of 5 mobs, taunt them all, and instantly receive 300 power and 300 ferocity for 15 seconds. If you want to play power in open world, any of the three will work.
